Photo workshop Master Class Marrakech

Join us on a photography workshop in Marrakech. Photograph exciting experiences off the beaten track in the city with the red walls, meet fascinating people and learn how to photograph your experiences as an impressive travel reportage. Capture the soul of this magnificent city from 1001 Nights with your camera.

The red walls and narrow alleyways of the medina, the glaring light of the boothes on the jugglers' square in the evening are always a challenge for photographers.

Available light in the city of Marrakech is our topic in this Master Class Marrakech photo workshop. From dawn to the harsh light-shadow conditions at midday to the soft evening light and darkness, everything will be covered.

What you will learn:

  • Streetphotography
  • Portrait photography
  • Urban photography
  • long time exposure
  • Evening photography with available light

We are accompanied by a local guide on all days. He brings us into contact with the locals. The proximity to the culture and the people makes this photo workshop something special. For the most part, we will be travelling away from the tourist highlights and experiencing the real Marrakech.

Day 1:

Arrival and our first meeting in the medina in Marrakech at around 4.30 p.m.

In the evening, visit the Djamna-El-Fnaa jugglers' square with sunset and night photography. The Moroccans love this square as a nightlife district just as much as the tourists. The square is bustling with people and, as well as snakes and monkeys to admire, there are many music groups playing. The glaring light of the lamps in the dark is a challenge for photographers and you will learn how to deal with it.

Day 2:

Visit the historic Ben Youssuf Koran school and tour the traditional craftsmen's neighbourhoods. Handicrafts are very popular and in some artisan neighbourhoods you will feel as if you have just arrived in the Middle Ages. Today you will learn how to photograph architecture and people with appreciation. In the evening, we will go back to Djamaa El Fna Square at sunset to practise long exposure photography.

Day 3:

Today we leave the more touristy part and walk through the neighbourhoods of the locals. Street photography and portrait photography are on our agenda today. If there is enough time, we will stop by the wonderful Museum of Photography to enjoy the view from the terrace, among other things.

Day 4:

Departure day. We set off early through the sleepy alleyways of Marrakech. In the very quiet alleyways of the medina in the morning, you can capture the silence with your camera until around 10 am.

The schedule and programme may change depending on the weather and local conditions.
