What you will learn:

  • landscape photography

  • street photography

  • portrait photography

  • travel photography

  • reportage photography /documentary photography

We will be accompanied by a local driver and guide every day, who will show us the authentic Morocco. He brings us into contact with the locals and shows us the culture and traditions of Morocco. The proximity to the culture and the people makes this photo workshop something special. On one of the days, we will have dinner at a Moroccan family's home.

Day 1:

Arrival and first meeting at the Riad in Marrakech in the afternoon. In the evening, visit to the Djamna-El-Fnaa jugglers' square with sunset and night photography.

Day 2:

We cross the High Atlas Mountains. Throughout the day, we will be accompanied by a constantly changing landscape that invites us to take photographs. On the way, we will always have the opportunity to photograph the landscape and people. At Boulmanedades or Tinerhir, we will photograph the breathtaking landscape at sunset before arriving at the Todra Gorge in the evening.

Day 3:

In the morning, we will head to the Todra Gorge. With its 300 metre high rock faces, which are cut through by a narrow valley, it is both impressive from a photographic point of view and a challenge in terms of lighting conditions. A short stop in Rissani, a lively small town, brings us back to the hustle and bustle of life after a long journey. In the evening, after a few scenic photo spots, we reach Merzouga, the desert town.

Day 4:

We start with photography before sunrise. Later we will visit Gnaoua musicians to photograph them playing in difficult lighting conditions in a short space of time. On our way to Erg Chebbi near Merzouga (sand dune desert), we meet dromedaries and travel with them to the desert camp to capture the dunes photographically. Shortly before sunset in the evening, the desert becomes a wonderful photo opportunity for us. And perhaps the starry sky with the Milky Way will spread out above us for night photography.

Day 5:

In the morning, we greet the rising sun in the desert with our cameras. The market (souk) in Rissani offers exciting lighting conditions for our photography. In Zagora, the large palm grove, date palms line up in the gardens to be photographed by us. The historic Kasbah also offers the opportunity to discover many motifs.

Day 6:

In Tamegroute, we visit the traditional pottery, where pottery is made by hand. There are many motifs for a photo reportage. In the desert camp of the small desert near Tamegroute (sand dune and stone desert) we end the day photographically at sunset in the vastness of the landscape.

Day 7:

The sand dune at Tamegroute is an impressive photo motif early in the morning. On the return journey to Marrakech, we drive through the wonderful Moroccan countryside again and cross the Atlas Mountains once more. We will again make several photo stops on the journey.

Day 8:

We say goodbye after breakfast, as today is your return flight day. If you still have time before your flight, you can use your own time to put what you have learnt into practice on your own. But please don't get lost in the alleyways, because your flight is not waiting for you.

The schedule and programme may change depending on the weather and local conditions.

We act flexibly in order to provide participants with the best photo opportunities on the routes and to stop at the most important and most beautiful photo spots.

We have long journeys on the tour and often only arrive at the hotel in the evening or at night. On the long journeys we try to stop at sunsets to photograph the landscape.

Please read the details of the workshop before registering. You can find them here.
