photo workshop in Morocco for women

This photo workshop in Morocco is especially for women.

We will stay in particularly pretty boutique hotels in Marrakesh and Essaouira on the Atlantic coast and devote ourselves to photography in non-touristy, local corners of both cities. We will spend one evening in a fabulous restaurant with GaultMillau-starred cuisine.

This photography trip to Morocco is designed specifically for women. You will experience the most beautiful sides of Marrakesh and Essaouira and learn how to photograph them.

In addition to photography with available light (natural light), you will stay in beautiful riads and dine at a GaultMillau-starred restaurant one evening.

Available light is our theme in this masterclass for female photographers.

From dawn to the harsh light and shadow conditions at midday to the soft evening light and darkness, everything is included. Long exposure photography in the evening atmosphere by the sea in Essaouira makes the workshop an even more special experience.

Highlights of the photography workshop for women in Marrakesh & Essaouira: travel photography, portrait photography, street photography, storytelling, available light, long exposure .... and only with female photographers

What you will learn:

  • Street photography
  • Portrait photography
  • Urban photography
  • Long exopsure
  • Evening photography with available light

We will be accompanied by a local guide (English-speaking) on all days. He will bring us into contact with the locals. The proximity to the culture and the people makes this photography workshop something special. In addition to some tourist highlights, you will experience the real Marrakesh and Essaouira by the sea.

Day 1:

Arrival and first meeting in the medina of Marrakesh at around 4.30 p.m.

Evening visit to the Djamna-El-Fnaa square with sunset and night shots. Moroccans love this square as a nightlife district just as much as tourists do. The square is teeming with people, and in addition to snakes and monkeys to admire, there are also many music groups playing. The bright light of the lamps in the darkness is a challenge for photography, and you will learn how to deal with it.

Day 2:

Visit the historic Ben Youssuf Koranic school and explore the traditional craftsmen's quarters. Arts and crafts are very popular, and in some of the craftsmen's quarters you will feel as if you have just arrived in the Middle Ages. Today you will learn how to photograph architecture and people in an appreciative way. In the evening, we will return to Djamaa El Fna Square at sunset to practise long exposure photography.

Day 3:

Today we will leave the more touristy part of the city and walk through the neighbourhoods where the locals live. Street and portrait photography are on our agenda. You can strike up conversations with locals while photographing them or creating a photo reportage about the city.

Day 4:

Today, colours are on the agenda. The wonderful gardens in Marrakesh are ideal for photography. The Majorelle Garden (Yves Saint Laurent) glows in bright blue, yellow and red, with the plants adding a beautiful accent in green.

Day 5:

We drive to Essaouira on the Atlantic coast. The city is cosy and, when the wind is good, the kite surfers conjure up colourful dots in the sky with their sails. In the evening, the sunset with its intensely coloured sky creates a romantic atmosphere.

Day 6:

In the morning, the harbour in Essaouira invites you to take lots of photos with its freshly caught fish and seafood. And the relaxed atmosphere in the city not only tempts you to take photos, but also to pause for a glass of tea or coffee before heading back to bustling Marrakesh for your last night.

Day 7:

Departure day. We set off early through the sleepy streets of Marrakech. In the very quiet streets of the medina, you can capture the silence with your camera until around 10 a.m.

The schedule and programme are subject to change depending on weather and local conditions.
