In this photography workshop, you will learn how to take great portrait photos in everyday life and when travelling. You will take photos in the city using only your camera and available light – no frills, no fancy photography equipment, no tedious lugging around. You will also learn how to give instructions to your “photo model”. By taking photos of each other, participants will experience what it's like to be in front of and behind the camera, which will help them learn how to give better instructions.
I offer this photography workshop in collaboration with the Leica Store Nuremberg and Calumet Stuttgart.
Taking good photographs of people in the city is often a challenge for many photographers. You will learn how to find suitable locations and practise taking photographs of each other.
Available light in the city is the theme of this Master Class urban portrait photography workshop. How to take great photos even in bright sunshine is part of this photography workshop. You can put what you learn into practice straight away on your next trip or with your family.

Workshop programm:
Welcome & introduction
Basics of portrait photography: image composition, aperture, camera settings, image examples, lighting conditions, location selection, communication with the model
Practical portrait photography in urban spaces
We will walk through the city together to take photographs at selected locations. In small groups, participants will photograph each other to put what they have learned into practice and deepen their understanding through hands-on experience.
Focus: choice of location, background details, lighting conditions, poses, communication with the ‘model’
joint lunch break (lunch/drinks not included in the price)
Image selection & debriefing
Initial review of the results, constructive feedback, questions

Required photographic equipment
Number of participants: 4–8
What you should bring with you:
- You are good on your feet (we will be walking a total of approx. 5 km)
- Basic knowledge of photography and how to use a camera
- Your own system camera or digital SLR camera
- If possible, a fast 24-70 mm lens (aperture 2.8 or larger)
- Charged battery and spare battery
- Empty memory cards
- Your own laptop/tablet for selecting images and editing them if necessary
You can also bring the following::
- 24-120 mm travel lens or similar focal lengths, or 70-200 mm telephoto lens

Travel to and from the venue, ccommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and tips are not included in the price and are to be paid for by the participants themselves.
